The school was established on the 10th September 1979 as Anwar –Ul Islam College, Agege (Afternoon Session) headed by Vice – Principal Mr. J. A. Omoteso. He was there till 19th November, 1979 when Mr. B. Badu-Preko took over as Vice – Principal. He also served till 18th July 1980. This marked the end of Anwar – Ul Islam College, Agege (Afternoon Session).
On Friday 26th September, 1980 Anwar – Ul Islam College II, Agege was established with Seven Hundred and Sixty-Seven Students (767) including Eighty-Nine Girls in Form One. All the pupils in forms 2 to 4 afternoon section of Anwar – Ul Islam College I are then shifted to form the foundation population in school II.
On Thursday 6th November, 1980, all the Girls in school II were finally transferred to only Girls’ Schools in Agege and Anwar – Ul Islam Girls’ High School, Ojokoro. This implies that Anwar – Ul Islam College II fully became only Boys school, until 23rd August 2002 when the then Principal admitted Three (3) Girls into JSS I. Since then, the school become Co-educational till date.
On 7th September, 1981 Anwar – Ul Islam College II changes uniform to white shirt, grey shorts and trousers for all the students. Till date the uniform still in use. On 5th September, 1983 the name of the school was changed from Anwar – Ul Islam College II to Oniwaya High School, Agege. When the school was fully taken over by the owner, Anwar – Ul Islam Movement of Nigeria on Monday 24th September, 2001, it was agreed to change the name of some of their schools. While on 30th June 2008, the school was renamed Bakre Disu Oshodi Memorial High School, Agege.
